Public spaces

The new Eden Walk will provide a variety of new pedestrian routes and spaces, each with their own character.

In the centre of Eden Walk, a new public space will provide an attractive open-air environment with seating, landscaping and space for events, pop-up stalls and shops.

A new pedestrian link will provide open access from Eden Walk to Memorial Gardens, removing the dark dead end and providing more space for people to sit, chat and eat their lunch, as many do now.

 

 

 


Leisure

We want the new Eden Walk to create a safe, clean and vibrant place for people to enjoy both in the daytime and the evening.

On most evenings, Eden Walk closes at 6pm and this part of the town centre shuts down for most users, particularly families.

The new Eden Walk will be home to a boutique cinema, a new dining terrace and cafés, providing a safe, family friendly environment, both in the daytime and the evening.

A new independent cinema would sit on top of the refurbished car park. This will be an attraction for all age groups with films, live theatre and festivals streamed to the cinema.

A new sky restaurant will offer fantastic views of Kingston and become a popular meeting place, and a venue for family, friends and visitors to Kingston.


Retail

Kingston Town Centre is currently not reaching its full potential. It is under pressure from other centres.

Broadening its offer of retail, leisure, culture, tourism and town centre living will help it compete against nearby expanding centres.

This proposal will bring more shoppers and more choice to Kingston and help to claw back lost trade and increase expenditure in the town centre.


Homes

The new Eden Walk will include 385 new apartments, across a range of different sizes from studio apartments to larger 3-bed flats.

With a huge range of activities on their doorstep, we would expect the new homes to be attractive to first time buyers, and downsizers looking to live in a safe environment close to local amenities.

The provision of features such as winter gardens, enhanced window glazing and sound insulation mean that residents can enjoy their homes without being disturbed by the sounds of town centre life.
